This is more beneficial in early game runs since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade item chance which increases with each item level and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn with the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item up to 140.

Additionally, certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be used to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available in the shop or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are costly and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to stop players from losing their items if it fails.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..

The luck of an item can also influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have a success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

The upgrade overlays of the item are displayed above items in the inventory. This could obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
