Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will be able to gain 3percent of its previous damage for each time it is upgraded.

Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost rises with item upgrade's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them; the item must be at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be applied. upgrade item components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it is applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with less Upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level with normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them from the cash shop or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher tier version of the item will be available in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.

Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be costly and there is a high risk that the item upgrader may be obsolete or even break if it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also give the player a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes within their radius and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in various ways, and we suggest upgrading them to 15 levels as soon as possible.

In the final game, you will often find that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components which can be upgraded to level 15 and offer a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions, are the most common. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values it can improve a stat by, and the value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with another Glyph with the same rank or higher rank, which will boost the value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs, you will need to place them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that can boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.

Glyphs will boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is best to put Glyphs in strategic locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For instance an Druid should try to position their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, but also be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes as well.

Leveling

The system of upgrading items allows players to improve the performance of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with a level that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled until they reach a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of item requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab in a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When a player improves a piece of equipment it will be replaced by an item that is new. The same armor will be upgraded to a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This can be a disadvantage because it can make the item more expensive if you do not need it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will have the level 1 base, and a totally different set of bonuses. This is useful for certain items, however it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it can use up lots of resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or is able to swim like dolphins). It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the maximum roll by 10 points. This item is very valuable in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth 50 times the value of the non-upgraded version.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by offering the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces improve the strength of their base defense, while upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.

If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar on the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it gained like chances to be crit damage to attack, other effects (such as increased heal over time, or the speed of reloading). When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit, the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item's definition and the value is computed each time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a typical equipment item may have five upgrades at a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance.
