They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the amount of dirt they are.
