WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item upgrader kit used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the item being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be bought by players from item upgrader mod upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which displays a preview of the item at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item level upgrade and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a certain level of item upgrading for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if those items are from another set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade items is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut too, but it is only available once certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item upgrade in the proper steps and routes.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
