WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item Level upgrade by 3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item upgrader mod is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for the latter due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They are purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using an button, which will show an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current item level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety means. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level for an item upgrader kit in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will be less expensive, even if they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade item path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrade upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they only have one use. It is Best item upgrade to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
