Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency with which you have to manually vacuum. Pick a robot vacuum that has good navigation, can clean stairs and corners and also has a large bin that will need to be emptied periodically.

There are models that can mop and charge on their own, a feature that may be essential for those who have pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests also offer decent obstacle-avoiding capabilities.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good choice for people who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually as it gets full.

Both robots excel at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they are very good in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. The i3+ isn't able to have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we test. It can get stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces like hardwood and rug.

iRobot recommends clearing areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including putting away any clutter or toys it may encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and takes about three hours to recharge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line and is equipped with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or through the app.

In our tests, the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility best amazon vacuum Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin or stop cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. When connected to these services, we were able use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in most homes, but also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system is able to trap allergens and then releases fresh air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets, and then pick up large particles or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum and back again.

The model also comes with a dock that charges to 100% in 3.5 hours, and gives users an easy access to two attachments and a clip for a wand. This is a significant improvement over previous Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main issue with the V10 is its limited run time. Its marketing claims that it can provide up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests show. This is an average not an extraordinary run time for a battery-powered cordless vac. It's still enough time to vacuum the majority of a home that's average size but not long enough to get every single area (though an additional run-through often will suffice). This doesn't mean that this model isn't a good choice It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming efficiency is better on low-pile carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of the most well-known robot vacuums the 694 is a basic model that's a good choice for people who don't wish to spend too much money on a robot vacuum cleaner comparison. It was able to remove the majority of types of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area several times to give an extensive clean. Its flat front allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and help you navigate your home. It's not equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series. It can get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and often runs out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi buy robot vacuum cleaner vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects, as it has fewer components that require regular maintenance It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges quicker.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy, has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on bare floors and low-pile carpet, while providing a greater variety of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in the field of home electronics. It's not surprising that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has a cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior customizations docking frequency settings and many more. The app is easy to learn and use, just like other Samsung devices.

In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It removed 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It was not as successful in avoiding taller objects like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested, and this could be a deal breaker for some shoppers.

The smart vacuum (try these guys out) comes with an onboard camera that is accessible via the app. You can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you check in on your children or pets when you are away. The dustbin and filter can be washed for quick, painless cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic clean station which helps keep the robot's bin clear and optimizes suction power.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Unlike other robotic vacuums, that are made for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They have an extra-wide cleaning path, and a dustbin that is 2X bigger than the competitors. This allows them to clean the area for longer. They also come with two side sweepers to clean along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense which adjusts the power level according to whether it's cleaning up dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. It also has a smart app that lets you view the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. You can also track the vacuum's status and send it to the dock for charging at the click of a button. The app also lets you to personalize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum by using different colors, so that you can clearly see which areas it's focused on or where it's stuck.

The app also makes it simple to steer the robot manually should you need to. My living room rug, for example has a dark-colored border which could cause a problem for other robots. However the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
