Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture leg. They also come with carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house based on how dirty those areas are.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you have a number of furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot auto vacuum and mop to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
