World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

item upgrades (Telegra wrote in a blog post) are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost an item's Rarity or Mark Level and boost additional stats.

The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive dependent on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to how many perks must be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). Players can view their average item upgrading level in their character sheet.

Using the item level can help players compare the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's a measure of the item's condition and its quality. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.

On PC, you can check the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be located by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are many theories about the method by which the level of an item is determined. One theory states that the item level is calculated using a formula that calculates the worth of an item's stats actually are. It is based on the fact that different perks are valued differently, and that gems found in sockets increase the item's value. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is usually close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

This isn't the only factor that influences the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped can change its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses them in many ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon, and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat mods, which are themselves increased by the player's skill.

Upgrades to the item add by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. For example, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare tiers will be upgraded several times at higher prices.

Another way to change the stats on an item is through affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The affixes could do things like give the item extra damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding a special name to the item.

All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which of the available stats they want to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However each item will include at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an exclusive item or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to enhance. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item basis, and the interface for comparing items would not display all the possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items and the properties that are generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives the player a chance to upgrade their equipment in earlier waves and is thus more beneficial in the early game as opposed to later ones, because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can be created or spawned using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to boost the luck of the item to 140.

Moreover some items, like the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be purchased from the shop or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much success rates can be increased and the chance of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%..

The Luck of an item can also affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has an average success rate of 25%, and every item upgrade that has Luck increases that chance by 5percent.

Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
