The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm is great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. 3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the rivals. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also provides access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
